PRAYER SHAWLS

Prayer Shawls
Prayer Shawls

I hold an expressive arts workshop entitled "Practicing the Art of Receiving" during which women receive hand-dyed indigo Prayer Shawls as well as enjoy a time of meditation, journaling and ceremony. The women enjoyed the shawls so much they began asking if I could make one for their friend, sister, daughter. So of course I said yes! It is such a joy for me to enter into the process of creating these shawls and it is my pleasure to share them with a wider audience!

I hand-dye each Prayer Shawl and pray for each recipient as I fold and immerse the fabric in the dye. I believe the prayer soaks into the fabric along with the dye, becoming a permanent part of the cloth. Each design is unique and is never the same. I use indigo dye and a method loosely based on the shibori dyeing method. In color psychology, the color indigo is said to enhance meditation and spiritual connection.

As the recipient wraps themselves in the cloth they are surrounded by the prayers that were prayed for them. It doesn't matter that I may not know them, God does and He knows what their hearts need as I pray for them and as you join me in blessing them with this unique gift! (or buy one for yourself!)

Please provide the name of the recipient(s) in the "Note to Seller" box during checkout. Each shawl will have a tag explaining my process. Cotton fabric. 36" x 72"

JOURNALS

Prayer Journal

I hand-dye the fabric that covers the journals using the same process as the Prayer Shawls. I pray for the recipient as I fold and immerse the fabric in the indigo dye. I believe the prayer soaks into the fabric just as much as the dye does, becoming a permanent part of the cloth. I then hand wrap each journal and enclose a card explaining my process. As a finishing touch, I hand stamp a word on the cover. As I pray for the recipient, I ask the Holy Spirit for a word that would be meaningful to them. It has never failed that women who have received these journals say it is a word that has personal significance or becomes significant to them quickly. I am always amazed at how God speaks individually to each heart, knowing just what they need (or will need). As the recipient writes in the journal they are surrounded by the prayers that were prayed for them.

Each design is unique and never the same. I use indigo dye and a method loosely based on the shibori dyeing method.

Each journal is 6" x 8", 190 lined pages. Ribbon bookmark included.
